As Samsung is the largest AMOLED supplier for devices, it’s no surprise that research revolves around display technology. Thanks to AMOLED’s characteristics, pixels can be turned on or off on selected parts of the screen. This is useful for features such as under-screen fingerprint scanners, which we may see in a Samsung device in 2019.

— Ice universe (@UniverseIce) October 19, 2018 Other technologies that we may see in future Samsung phones includes sensors built underneath the screen. Including proximity sensors (like the one in the Mi Mix 2s) as well as the selfie camera. Further, Samsung is also exploring under-screen acoustics for its earpiece, as well as Haptic on Display to simulate game buttons on screen. In the same slide, Samsung also shared that it has achieved 72% of its target research on these new features. It may be safe to say that we may see these features pop in future Samsung devices, just like the Galaxy S10. (Source: IceUniverse)
