The updated CPUs and GPU solutions will be applied to its 27-inch iMac, which will have the option of either a 6-core or 8-core Intel CPU. That Apple says will deliver more than double the performance of the last generation iMac. It should be noted that only the 27-inch iMac will receive the 9th generation Intel Core CPU update. Apple will only update the smaller 21.5-inch iMac with its 8th generation Core CPUs. To which users will have a choice of fitting their own unit with either a 4-core or 6-core Intel Core processor.
Also, and for the first time ever, both the 21.5-inch and 27-inch iMacs will be fitted with AMD’s Radeon Pro Vega GPU. Unlike the conventional desktop Radeon Vega GPUs, the Radeon Pro Vega is more tailored towards graphics-intensive workloads, such as 3D design and video editing. Of course, that isn’t to say that the card doesn’t allow consumers to take a little break now and then and engage in a round of their favourite video game title. Last but not least, both iMac models come with exceedingly high-resolution displays; the 21.5-inch model features a Retina 4K display, while the 27-inch comes fitted with a Retina 5K display. Regardless of the resolution, both the displays are capable of outputting up to 14.7 million pixels, one billion colours, have a brightness range of 500 nits, P3 wide colour gamut, and most importantly, incredible viewing angles.
Oh, and they both run on the latest version of macOS, also known as Mojave. Pricing for the 21.5-inch iMac starts from US$1299 (~RM5287) in the US, while the 27-inch will retail from US$1799 (~RM7323). Of course, there are non-Retina display models available; those models start from US$1099 (~RM4473).
