The leak was first published by the popular leakster site, Videocardz, who discovered the motherboard references via ASRocks’ Polychrome Sync app. In total, the site discovered a total of nine Z490 motherboards that the brand plans on releasing. This list includes:

ASRock Z490 AQUAASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4ASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 4 SRASRock Z490 Phantom Gaming 6ASRock Z490 Pro4ASRock Z490 Steel LegendASRock Z490 TaichiASRock Z490M ITX ACASRock Z490M Pro4

In addition to the Z490, the app also revealed the existence of some H470 motherboards, as well as a W480 motherboard. The latter being the latest addition to ASRock’s mainstream desktop motherboard series and aimed at consumers looking for a workstation alternative.

Again, there is still no official launch date for either ASRock’s new Socket 1200 motherboards or Intel’s corresponding Comet Lake-S processors. However, as per earlier reports, it has been confirmed that these motherboards will be giving the PCIe 4.0 interface a miss and instead retain the current PCIe 3.0 interface. This is reportedly due to some issues revolving around the chipset. This setback also isn’t helped by the fact that Intel’s transition from the 14nm to 10nm process node has been mire with difficulty. In that time, Intel’s competitor, AMD, has been pushing its 3rd generation Ryzen CPUs that based around the 7nm die lithography. (Source: Videocardz // Image: Intel)
