However, it looks like Disney has changed its mind. The House of Mouse has updated its For Your Consideration campaign list to include Robert Downey Jr for Best Supporting Actor. Not only that, Disney has also submitted a bunch of other names of Avengers: Endgame actors to be considered for an Oscar nom. Best Supporting Actor:
Robert Downey Jr.Chris EvansMark RuffaloChris HemsworthJeremy RennerJosh BrolinPaul RuddDon Cheadle
Best Supporting Actress:
Scarlett JohanssonGwyneth PaltrowZoe SaldanaKaren GillanBrie Larson
Keep in mind, though, that some of these names are not to be taken too seriously. Sometimes studios just “push” certain talents just to be diplomatic to all parties and agents involved. There’s literally zero chance that Paul Rudd, Zoe Saldana and Brie Larson get an Oscar nod, not because they’re not talented but because they hardly had much to do in Avengers: Endgame. This is especially true for Larson, who only appeared in the beginning and right at the end where she kicked some serious ass. The only three people who have a realistic chance of getting a nod from The Academy are Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth and Scarlett Johansson. Even so, I’d say the chances are low for the latter two. Apart from the acting categories above, Disney is also pushing Avengers: Endgame in the following areas:
