The revelation of CDPR’s endeavour first came to light during an interview between journalists and the company’s president, Adam Kicinski. To be fair, Kicinski merely said that the studio was working on another single-player title with a “relatively clear concept”. Of course, it goes without saying that this is all just speculation for now. Further, it’s almost a certainty that we won’t be seeing a new Witcher title for the next several years, if CDPR’s working habits and John Carmack-esque approach to making video games.
CDPR’s The Witcher series is loosely based on the book series of the same name, written by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski. In-game, you play as Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher trained since young to hunt and kill monsters. The studio’s third instalment, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, was met with critical acclaim and overwhelmingly positive reception when it launched in 2015. In 2019, the game then saw a resurgence in its popularity after Netflix’s adaptation of The Witcher was released. (Source: PCGamer)
