For those out there that wanted an iPhone but don’t want to splurge on the retail price tag, DirectD has recently slashed the price tag for the second-generation iPhone SE. Instead of RM1,999, the retailer is offering the 64GB variant for RM1,199. On the other hand, the 128GB variant can also be obtained from DirectD for RM1,499 instead of the original RM2,099 price tag. In general, you may save up to RM800 through this deal. As a comparison, the third-generation iPhone SE with 64GB is priced at RM2,099 while the 128GB variant goes for RM2,299. One can also obtain the device with 256GB storage space for RM2,799. In general, the new 2022’s model still features plenty of elements from its predecessor such as the basic design, 4.7-inch Retina HD display, and physical Home button with Touch ID. In addition to that, it also has the same 12MP f/1.8 main camera and 7MP f/2.2 front camera. However, the newer model does offer better performance due to the presence of the A15 Bionic chip which is the same processor that powered the higher-end iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The chip also helped unlock new computational photography features for the phone including Deep Fusion, Smart HDR 4, and Photographic Styles. The third-generation model is also the first in the iPhone SE family to support 5G. That being said, Apple has yet to unlock the feature for Malaysia’s 5G network which is not surprising as the Big Four telcos – all of them are Apple telco partners – are still sorting out the 5G access issue with the national 5G company, Digital Nasional Berhad. Meanwhile, Apple also said that the third generation iPhone SE can deliver up to 15 hours of battery life for video playback which is two hours longer than the second generation model. Nevertheless, some may deem the discount provided by DirectD as significant enough to sway them to the older 2020’s iPhone SE.
