Early Adopters Report Experiencing Issues With Their New Ps5 Console From Buzzing Noises To Bricking

According to several sources, some owners have reported a loud buzzing and other noises omitting from their brand new console. The actual cause is still unknown for now, although some attributed the sounds came from the PS5’s disc drive. However, owners of the Digital Edition have noticed it on theirs as well, which debunks the theory.

Twitter user @andrewmagana94 says that the buzzing only occurs when he’s running a game, and goes away when the PS5 is idle or when used outside of gaming. This is also apparent on the PlayStation 4, where its fans whir louder when running graphically intense games. Regardless, the buzzing or humming sound heard from the next-gen console is mostly distracting rather than anything worth worrying.

According to Giantbomb’s Jeff Gerstmann, the PS5’s Rest Mode has caused issues when playing Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, where he noted it will cause the console to freeze – requiring a complete restart of the system. This in turn will activate the PS5’s storage restore process after restart, where in some extreme cases, such as YouTuber Jeremy Penter’s (aka ACG) case, resulted in a glitch that bricked his unit.

Sony has yet to acknowledge or comment regarding these issues, so it may be a while until the company decides to release any sort of fixes for their newly launched video game console. The only recommended course of action for PS5 owners right now is to fully utilise their warranty for hardware replacement or fix.
