Producer Naoki Yoshida shared via the official Final Fantasy XVI Twitter account that, you guessed it, the COVID-19 pandemic has ruined everyone’s plans. He explains that allowing staffers to work from home has disrupted communications with the Tokyo main office. This has, in turn, led to the delays – and cancellation in some cases – of asset deliveries from outsource partners.
— FINAL FANTASY XVI (@finalfantasyxvi) December 27, 2021 Not that any of that is unexpected. Yoshida, who is also the producer and director for the Final fantasy XIV MMO, delayed the latest expansion Endwalker for two weeks. Final Fantasy XVI, which still doesn’t have a release date yet, is further behind in development, and in need of more time in the oven. So when will the next big info dump of Final Fantasy XVI take place? Yoshida says that this will happen some time in spring 2022. Which is some time between late March and late June. Sadly, no dates for this either, at least not yet. (Source: Square Enix / Twitter)
