News of Sony’s endeavour can be directly interpreted as a response to both Samsung and Huawei’s own initiative with the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, respectively. Despite the postponement of the Galaxy Fold and what can best be described as the unclear future of the Mate X due to the recent US ban on China. As one would deduced, the “F” in the Xperia F refers to the foldable nature. Information about the project is, as many of us have come to expect, scarce. However, speculation about the device suggest that the phone will sport an OLED display, along with a 21:9 ratio. Just like the Xperia 1 and current Xperia 10 series. It’s not clear if the display will retain the same 4K UHD resolution either.

Of course, this is merely all hearsay, and as such, should be treated with a healthy dose of skepticism. Having said that, the rumours are suggesting that any physical, working units of the Xperia F won’t be out anytime until the year 2020. As if that wasn’t bad enough, it’s highly likely that Sony won’t even introduce the phone our market anymore, given its defocusing efforts that we mentioned earlier.
