Google made the announcement on its blog, with some extra details. For now, you can use the transcribing feature on Google Translate with any combination of eight languages. They are English, French, German, Hindi, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Thai. Once you get the update that adds the feature, it will have its own icon on the Google Translate home screen. You’ll also notice a slight change in the UI, where some features like the writing and mic buttons are moved around a little. will also be able to pause or restart the transcription, by tapping on the aforementioned mic.
This will make for a good addition to Google Translate, working alongside the Conversation feature. For now, Transcribe works best in a quiet environment, with only one person speaking at a time. The internet search giant will likely be adding more languages to the feature, but it did not mention when we’ll be getting it.
