Rather than being a pet itself, Hello Kitty serves as something like a partner, taking care of the actual pet. She will feed it as well as play with it. Her friend Joey will also make occasional appearances, but not for the best of reasons. There are two variants of the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi, at least aesthetically. One comes in a white shell, while another has red with some white at the centre. Regardless of colour, both function the same way. And in usual Tamagotchi fashion, it comes with a key chain attached so that it’s easy to carry it around with you wherever you go.
Bandai says that the Hello Kitty Tamagotchi will be available starting 1 December 2020 in the US. Pre-orders are also already open for US$19.99 (~RM83). No word on when they will be available internationally though. Hopefully this will make its way to our shores, and these two names are sure to pull plenty of nostalgia strings.
