Specifically, the name of the models are the HONOR 30, HONOR 30 Pro, and HONOR 30 Pro+. It goes without saying, but it’s clear that HONOR has is, once again, taking a cue from Huawei and its recent P40 series launch. Starting from the bottom, the HONOR 30 is one of the first devices to be fitted with a new Kirin 985 5G SoC, comes with up to 8GB fo RAM, and a maximum expandable storage capacity of 256GB.
Camera-wise, the HONOR 30 comes with main quad-camera module comprising a 40MP main, an 8MP ultra-wide, 8MP telephoto, and 2MP depth sensor. Around the front, the selfie camera utilises a 32MP sensor, fitted snugly in the elongated punch hole cutout of the display. Speaking displays, the HONOR 30’s own measures in at 6.53-inches with Full HD+ resolutions. Keeping the phone powered is a large 4000mAh battery. Software-wise, the phone runs on the latest Android 10 OS, but as the company is a sister brand to Huawei, all phones in the series will not have Google Mobile Services (GMS). Alternatively, they all will run on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).
Moving up the ladder is the HONOR 30 Pro, and the phone is definitely a step up with regards to some of its hardware. For starters, it’s got Huawei’s top-of-the-line Kirin 990 5G SoC, comes with 8GB RAM, and the same expandable storage options as the HONOR 30. Oddly enough, the phone uses a triple main camera setup, making it one sensor short than the HONOR 30. It uses a 40MP main, a 16MP super wide-angle, and an 8MP telephoto lens. The selfie camera’s the same 32MP sensor, but the display is slightly larger than the HONOR 30’s by 0.03-inches. Oh, and it also has the same 4000mAh battery capacity.
At the top of the list is the HONOR 30 Pro+. Like the HONOR 30 Pro, the “Plus” version sports a Kirin 990 SoC, has up to 12GB RAM, and a maximum expandable storage capacity of 256GB. What sets it apart from the other two is its camera; it’s still a triple main camera module, but instead of a 40MP main, it’s fitted with a 50MP Sony IMX700 sensor. And while we’ve yet to test it, DxOMark has already given it 125 points, putting the phone in second place and just behind the Huawei P40 Pro. Price-wise, the HONOR 30 starts at 2999 Yuan (~RM1842) for the 6GB+128GB model, 3199 Yuan (~RM1965) to 8GB+128GB, and 3499 Yuan (~RM2150) for the 8GB+256GB model.
For the HONOR 30 Pro, pricing starts at 3999 Yuan (~RM2457) for the 8GB+128GB, while the 8GB+256GB model retails for 4399 Yuan (~RM2703). As for the HONOR 30 Pro+, the base model with 8GB+128GB starts at 4999 Yuan (~RM3072), 5399 Yuan (~RM3317) for the 8GB+256GB, and 5799 Yuan for the 12GB+256GB.
