Since Huawei P series is focused on photography, it goes without saying that the main attraction of the P30 series devices is their camera system which Huawei has co-developed with Leica. For the P30 Pro, its rear camera system consisted of a 40MP wide-tangle 27mm f/1.6 camera alongside 20MP ultra wide-angle 16mm f/2.2 and 8MP 5x telephoto 125mm f/3.4 cameras.
Aside from the 5x optical zoom capability, P30 Pro’s periscope-shaped telephoto camera can also zoom in further via its 10x hybrid zoom feature as well as 50x digital zoom. Huawei has also implemented optical image stabilization on the P30 Pro’s main and telephoto cameras. The company has also added a Time-of-Flight camera to the P30 Pro as a depth sensor to help deliver enhanced bokeh capability for the phone. The rear camera system on P30 Pro is also able to reach ISO settings as high as 409660 and shoot macro photos at a distance as close as 2.5cm. Also exclusive to P30 Pro is a new video shooting mode called Dual-View Video which allows users to utilize two rear cameras at the same time.
As for the standard P30 model, it comes with 40MP wide-angle 27mm f/1.8 camera together with 16MP ultra wide-angle 17mm f/2.2 and 8MP 3x telephoto 80mm f/2.4 cameras. While Huawei might have equipped the P30 with conventional telephoto camera unlike the P30 Pro’s periscope snapper, it still able to zoom up to 5x hybrid zoom and 30x digital zoom. The P30 rear camera system is also able to support a maximum ISO level of 204,800. In terms of selfies, both devices rely on the same 32MP f/2.0 selfie camera. When it comes to display, the P30 Pro is equipped with a 6.47-inch Full HD+ OLED display while the display on the P30 is slightly smaller at 6.1-inch although it still utilizes the same OLED panel and has identical Full HD+ resolution. Depending on respective markets, both devices can be obtained with RAM of up to 8GB but P30 internal storage is limited to 128GB while the P30 Pro can go as high as 512GB.
The P30 Pro comes standard with a 4200mAh battery as opposed to P30’s 3650mAh battery. Wireless charging feature is only available on the P30 Pro which also able to deliver reverse wireless charging just like last year’s Mate 20 Pro. Price-wise, the P30 Pro with 8GB/128GB configuration goes for EU 999 (~RM 4605) while the 8GB/256GB and 8GB/512GB variants are listed at EU 1099 (~RM 5066) and EU 1249 (~RM 5758) respectively. The P30 on another hand comes with 6GB/128GB setup and EU 799 (~RM 3683) price tag. The general global release date for Huawei P30 series starts from today onwards, 26 March. While we still waiting for the availability and pricing details of these devices from Huawei Malaysia, the company has previously hinted that consumers will be able to get their hands on them this April.
