The distributor revealed that Malaysia will be receiving the High variant of the new five-seater MX-30 EV, which is imported from Japan. This particular version comes with an adaptive LED headlight system, front cross traffic alert, cruising and traffic support, 12-speaker Bose sound system, a mix of fabric and leatherette upholstery, an eight-way adjustable powered driver’s seat with two-position memory, 360-degree view monitoring reverse camera system, and a powered sunroof. The EV is a front-wheel drive with single-speed transmission, and features Mazda’s e-Skyactiv powertrain that consists of a 107 kW electric motor that is capable of producing 143 hp (145 PS) and 271 Nm of torque. Performance-wise, it is said to have a top speed of 140 km/h and is able to hit from nought to 100 km/h in 9.7 seconds. Meanwhile, powering the motor is a 35.5 kWh lithium-ion battery which allows the vehicle to reach a maximum operating range of approximately 199 km on a single charge. Speaking of which, featured onboard the MX-30 EV is a Type 2 AC port that supports charging speeds of up to 6.6 kW. With this, a full charge would take around five hours via a wallbox or alternatively, around 12 hours if charged through a regular power plug which provides a maximum rate of 3 kW. Additionally, the vehicle also comes with DC fast charging support via CCS2 port, with a maximum charging rate of 40 kW. It is claimed that this can top-up the Mazda EV’s battery up to 80% in over 30 minutes. On the exterior, the vehicle is equipped with LED-based headlights, daytime running lights, rear combination lights, fog lamps and reverse lights, as well as rain sensing wipers, four front and six rear parking sensors, “suicide” doors, and also 18-inch alloy wheels with 215/55 tyres. Inside, the Mazda MX-30 features a keyless entry system, a 8.8-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as two 7-inch displays for its digital instrument cluster and touchscreen climate controls. Safety-wise, the EV comes equipped with seven airbags, dynamic stability control, traction control, ABS with EBD and brake assist, hill launch assist, and ISOFIX child restraint anchor points. Besides that, also onboard is Mazda’s i-Activsense suite which comprise of the autonomous Smart Brake Support feature, radar-based cruise control with stop and go functionality, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, lane departure warning system, and driver attention alert (driver monitoring and lane-keep assist). The new Mazda MX-30 EV is available in five colour options: Soul Red Crystal, Polymetal Grey, Machine Grey, Jet Black Mica, and Zircon Sand. According to Bermaz, pricing starts from RM 198,780 and is offered together with a five-year or 100,000 km manufacturer warranty (whichever comes first), while its battery gets an eight-year or 160,000 km warranty coverage.
