Starting from 25 May 2021, the operating hours of all eateries, grocery stores, supermarkets, petrol stations, pet stores, laundromats, optometrists, barbers, and car wash will be restricted to 8:00 AM till 8:00 PM. The same restriction also applies to food take-outs, drive-thrus, and delivery services. On another hand, night markets are allowed to operate only from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. However, pharmacies are allowed to open until 10:00 PM while petrol stations at highways can continue to operate 24/7.
Another new directive that will be introduced on 25 May is a higher emphasis on working from home. The government has ordered 80% of the public sector which covers almost 750,000 staff together with 6.1 million personnel or 40% of the private sector to operate from home. In addition to that, the government has imposed a maximum attendance level of 60% for each company inclusive of operations and managerial staff. The authorities have also decided to cut down the maximum capacity of public transportation to 50% starting from 25 May as well. As pointed earlier, these directives are the latest amendments to the existing MCO 3.0 implementation that will last until 7 June which mean previous SOPs are still being valid as well.
