Built with a unibody chassis that made from ceramic, Zero is designed to meet the IP68 standard which means that it can withstand up to 30 minutes being under up to 2 meters of water. Equipped with a 5.99-inch AMOLED display with in-display optical-based fingerprint scanner, the phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, but its RAM and internal storage were not mentioned by Meizu. You may ask how the phone will be controlled seeing there are no physical buttons. Well, there is pressure sensitive area on the side of the phone where the volume and power are usually located. To encounter the challenges from not having a physical speaker, Meizu has equipped Zero with an under-display sound technology called mSound 2.0. The phone is also fully dependable on eSIM which allows it to stay away from having a physical SIM card tray. Photography-wise, Zero comes with a pair of cameras on its back with sensors that were sourced from Sony. Specifically, these sensors come in the form of 20MP IMX350 and 12.3MP IMX380 sensors while there is also another 20MP camera on its front.
Since the phone doesn’t come with a charging port, it is rather natural that Zero has to depend on wireless charging and Meizu has come out with the 18W Super Wireless mCharge fast charger which is claimed to be the fastest of its kind in the industry. However, the company also didn’t disclose the phone’s battery capacity and the charging time although it is apparently on par with a conventional cable. Meanwhile, the actual release date and pricing for the Meizu Zero is not yet known at the moment as it depends on the adoption of eSIM by telcos in China. Hence, we not even sure whether we will be able to see the phone in Malaysia since our telcos also have yet to fully embraced eSIM as well but nevertheless, we’ll keep you posted once we hear more from the company.
