Whether you’re completely healthy, currently infected with the virus, or have recovered from it, the team is asking you to submit your cough sample for the development of an Artificial Intelligence (AI) that can detect COVID-19 and other infectious diseases from just the sound. It is being conducted by the Ministry of Health and the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak, with a target of at least 2,400 participants for each type of disease.
Everyone is invited. 😉Please visit 🔗https://t.co/TjAm9iQWgT to record and submit your cough and breath sounds. pic.twitter.com/AIKOtBgd9L — Institute for Clinical Research (ICR), NIH MY (@ICR_NIH) April 13, 2022 To take part in the study, you can visit coughsound.dhri.my and register using your phone number. You’ll then have to answer some questions about your vaccination status, COVID-19 infection (if any), smoking status, and any medical conditions you might have.
You’ll be asked to find a quiet area and record yourself cough twice with a mask on, then with a mask off. The whole process should only take about 10 minutes and while there is no financial incentive, the DHRI unit encourages you to participate for the sake of contributing to a solution for a global problem. Interestingly, the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MOSTI) and Serba Dinamik IT Solutions also announced last year that they are working on an app that detects COVID-19 through cough patterns.
