The leaks by way of the well-established leakster site, VideoCardz. As an extra added bonus, the leaks also include a closeup shot of what appears to be NVIDIA’s TU116-400 Turing-based GPU architecture. San the RT Cores and Tensor Cores, obviously.
Moving on, the leaked images suggest that MSI is releasing three SKUs of the new GPU; the Gaming, Armor, and Ventus series. In regards to the latter SKU, MSI intends to release two sub-variants of the series, which are the Ventus XS and the non-XS version. For the most part, the Ventus XS version of the series will share the same PCB as the Gaming X version of the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. That version reportedly comes with a 4+2 VRM design as shown below:
On that note, it comes as no surprise that the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Gaming X will be MSI’s top of the range SKU for the new Turing-powered GTX graphics card series, complete with all the physical trimmings (i.e. RGB) and factory overclocking.
On another hand, the MSI GeForce GTX 1660 Ti Armor is aimed at the gamer looking to strike a balance between price and performance, as well as those who want a card without the extra RGB LEDs.
The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is rumoured to launch on 22 February, which is on a Friday a week from now. The card’s GPU is based on the GPU brand’s current 12nm Turing architecture, but will not have the real-time ray-tracing capabilities or DLSS support like its GeForce RTX series brethren. Specs-wise, the card is expected to ship out with 6GB GDDR6 memory and 1536 CUDA cores. Well then, let’s see whether these leaks are accurate or otherwise on 22 February.
