In terms of design, the newer camera is basically a direct variant of Sony’s ZV-1 that was released in 2020. That being said, it features the same body size, fixed integrated lens, control layout, and vari-angle LCD touchscreen display for framing. Similarly, the ZV-1F also comes with a shoe mount for external attachments, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connectivity, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, as well as a micro-HDMI port. Thankfully, Sony has ditched the microUSB port for this model and replaced it with a USB-C one instead, which can be used for both charging and transferring data to compatible devices. While the ZV-1F also features the same Type-1 Exmor RS 20 MP sensor as its 2020 predecessor, the company has omitted some features in order to reduce the camera’s cost. These include the lack of optical sensor stabilisation and phase detection for tracking purposes. Regardless, it can still capture still images of up to 5472 x 3648 pixels, as well as videos at up to 4K resolution and 30 frames per second. Meanwhile, its integrated fixed lens is different from the ZV-1. Specifically, it is a 20 mm ZEISS Tessar T* wide-angle which features a focal length of 7.6 mm, f/2.0 aperture, and a 94-degree field of view. Users are able zoom in to subjects at 1.0, 1.5, 2.0 and 4.0 magnification, though all of these are done through digital means. Even though there’s no optical stabilisation, the camera instead relies on electronic stabilisation via image cropping. Besides that, the new point-and-shoot comes with a slew of built-in imaging enhancement features such as background bokeh and face priority AE (auto exposure), skin tone optimisation, 10 onboard creative filters, slow and quick motion shooting, product showcase mode, and more. According to its official spec sheet, the ZV-1F uses the same rechargeable NP-BX1 battery pack as before, which is said to last up to 90 minutes of operating time. Users may also opt to utilise its USB-C port to provide power for continuous shooting. Sony has confirmed that the ZV-1F will be available in Malaysia this December for RM 2,599, which is considerably more affordable than its 2020 predecessor. In terms of colour options, the new camera is offered in White and Black. (Source: Sony Malaysia press release / official website [1] [2])
