As it turned out, the service was actually the brainchild of TM’s wireless division, Webe Digital. But just slightly a year after the service was launched, nex.life is meeting its end this coming June.

According to a recent report by SoyaCincau, Webe Digital has begun to send termination notice to its customers. Since Webe Digital didn’t announce the termination on nex.life’s website or Facebook page, we have reached out to the company for further clarifications regarding the abrupt shutdown of the service and this was the response: “Because of market demand and new technology innovation, Webe Digital is realigning all its product offering to better serve its customers. Unfortunately, it has been decided to no longer support nex.life. We are working on developing new innovative products within Webe’s family of offerings.” So, what will happen to existing nex.life customers? Webe Digital stated in its response that customers will be offered the unifi 30Mbps a + unifi Media Box plan which usually costs RM 149 per month, at a reduced rate of RM 99 instead. In addition to that, their monthly fee will also be waived for six months.

As for the mobile portion of the plan, customers can choose to get their hands on the unlimited unifi Mobile plan which costs an additional RM 59 per month. However, this mobile plan comes with a separate 12-month contract. Given the company’s connection (heh) with TM, it is not surprised that the exit strategy for nex.life would lead the customers back to unifi. Hence, we can’t help but to wonder why nex.life was established as a separate service outside of the unifi family in the first place.
