The second gen Z6 and Z7 both retain their respective 24.MP and 45.7MP full-frame BSI CMOS image sensors, which are now paired with the newer and faster Expeed 6 processors. That latter enables the cameras to feature faster autofocus (AF) speeds. Speaking of which, face and eye-detect autofocus now works in wide area AF mode rather than auto area. Shooting speeds are also improved; the Z6 II capable of 14 fps for reduced-quality 12-bit RAWs and continuous AF with a single point, while the Z7 II can shoot 10 fps with a single AF point.
In terms of video recording, the Z6 II is capable of recording 4K videos at 60 fps but cropped to an APS-C size, while oversampled 4K 30fps videos will use its entire sensor width. The Z7 II, on the other hand, has a 1.08x crop on 4K 60fps recordings and like its sibling, 4K 30fps will be captured using the full width of its sensor. Both devices can output 10-bit N-Log or HDR (HLG) footage to an external recorder.
Despite featuring similar camera bodies as its predecessors, both the Z6 II and Z7 II come with dual card slots that support SD UHS II, XQD, and CFexpress. Other than that, the duo features a 3.69M-dot electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a flip-out rear LCD screen.
The Nikon Z6 II is slated to be released in November 2020 and is priced at US$2,000 (~RM8,309) for body only, or US$2,600 (~RM10,800) for a bundled package with a NIKKOR Z 24-80mm f/4 S lens. Meanwhile, the Nikon Z7 II will only be out by December and is priced at US$3,000 (~RM12,463) for body only, or US$3,600 (~RM14,956) when kitted together with the same NIKKOR lens.
