The inaugural season of the A5GL went relatively smoothly, and the response to the tournament was positive enough to warrant a second season which was just completed this past weekend.

A5GL season 2 was a diverse tournament with a solid number of competitors including companies such as AirAsia, Shopee, Petronas, Shell, Fujixerox and even esports companies such as Stadium Fighter. Unfortunately, the tournament did run into a slight problem due to numerous company teams being discovered to have players that were ineligible to join the tournament due to their previous tournament experience. With a sizable prize pool of up to RM20,000 at stake, it seems like several teams were trying to include experienced competitive esports players in their rosters in the hopes of gaining a competitive advantage. However, the organisers of the A5GL appear to have done a good job of identifying these ineligible players and acting swiftly to disqualify their teams from the tournament.

Before the tournament had concluded, there had already been a total of 9 teams that were disqualified for various reasons such as the players having previously won tournaments with prize pools above RM5000, the players on the team not being employees of the company, and even one team which failed to provide the documentation to prove that the company it claimed to represent was indeed an actual legitimate company. In the end, the grand finals of the A5GL were completed without incident and the following teams emerged as the victors: Dota 2 Champion – Tong Woh Enterprise (Team GTR) 1st runner up – KHCT Trading Sdn Bhd (AnS Esport) 2nd runner up – PETRONAS/ KSRP Esports Club 1 (R2.Black) CSGO Champion – SF Esport Enterprise (Stadium Fighter) 1sr runner up – Generasea Technology  2nd runner up – Esports Businnes Network Sdn Bhd (EBN.TGC.Orange) Congratulations to the winners and well done to the A5GL for a successful season 2! As the only league which currently is catered towards companies and their workers, we hope that this tournament will continue to run as it provides a great opportunity not just for those participating, but also for more mainstream audiences to be exposed to esports through the activities of their companies and co-workers.
