The rumour was first propagated by a now deleted post on the China Times, but not before other sites picked up on it. The post suggested that NVIDIA AiB partners – ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI, among others – were beginning to clear out their currently existing GeForce RTX 20 series GPUs. Dropping the prices of their custom-cooled GeForce RTX 2060s to as low as US$330 (~RM1418), and RTX 2080s to as low as US$538 (~RM2312). All in anticipation of the yet unannounced Ampere-based GPU. At this stage, we don’t believe we should have to tell to treat this bit of news with a liberal sprinkling of doubt, especially since the post was deleted. That being said, the alleged timing and expectation of a new GPU more or less falls in line with what NVIDIA did back in 2018. To recap, NVIDIA made the existence of its current Turing GPU architecture known to the world back in 2018, around the same time of the year.
More to the point, September is also the time when the company usually make the big announcement for new GPUs in its GeForce market. In any case, we’ll just have to wait until the GTC 2020 keynote. (Source: Techspot)
