Twitter account @nintendalerts notes that a French retailer is currently listing the original Nintendo Switch for EUR249 (~RM1218). This is down from the original price of EUR330 (~RM1614), according to VGC. The outlet also reports that the discount will also be implemented in the UK, but no date as to when that will happen.
— Nintend’Alerts (@nintendalerts) September 12, 2021 Officially, Nintendo does not set an official retail price for the Nintendo Switch. But the price cut may be a result of lowered distribution price, which may have happened to stimulate sales ahead of the OLED model’s launch next month. But notably, the report makes no mention either of the second revision with improved battery life or the Lite model. In a sense, it’s a similar situation with us, where the prices are set by the local distributors of the handheld console hybrid, rather than Nintendo itself. With that being said, it remains to be seen if the original Switch will see a price cut on our shores as we approach the release date of the OLED model. (Source: @nintendalerts / Twitter via VGC)
