For those who not familiar with the event, LOC is one of the biggest tournament series in the region for the League of Legends scene. Presented by Lenovo and Intel, LOC Series III first started back in early November last year involving 11 countries throughout Asia including Malaysia.

Given the location of the event, it is apt to see that LOC utilized two caster teams with one of them catering for the home crowd by shoutcasting in Thai. Naturally, the other team delivered their commentaries in English for the benefits of other LoL fans throughout the world.

Interestingly, the tourney opened with a mini-concert featuring Thai idol group Sweat16!. We don’t know much about the group, so you might want to check out its Facebook page if that’s your thing.

The event area was certainly buzzing with gamers, especially when there was a mini-tournament going on during the first day of LOC Grand Finals. Other attractions at the event include VR game station, merchandise stall, and cosplayers.

Naturally, being a tournament that bears its name, Lenovo Legion products are everywhere throughout the event venue. Among them is the newly announced Legion Y740 gaming laptop, as well as the older Y530.

Of course, let’s not forget about our representative to the event, the band of comrades who called themselves DuckOnDrug. It was an interesting journey for the team who booked a slot in the Grand Finals in Bangkok by pulling a victory against the well-known Kuala Lumpur Hunters in the semi-final of LOC Series III Qualifiers for Malaysia before sealing off the deal with a straight 4-0 win against Washed Up Jungle in the final.

At the Grand Finals of LOC Series III on another hand, DuckOnDrug managed to enter the Top 8 stage although the team was placed in the lower bracket part of the tournament after losing out in the playoffs for a spot in the upper bracket. Subsequently, DuckOnDrug finished its LOC Series III campaign earlier today after it was edged out by ArkAngel from the Philippines. The team will not be coming home empty-handed though as DuckOnDrug will still receive a cash prize of USD 900 (~ RM 3712) for its effort.
