And indeed, Pokemon Unite will have two release dates. According to the description of a new trailer, the game will first come to the Nintendo Switch in July. Mobile devices will get it two months later, in September. No exact dates beyond the months they come out in, unfortunately. On its official website, Pokemon Unite is listed as a free-to-start game. Which is Nintendo’s own flavour of free-to-play, but with a fair bit of unwelcome restrictions. If you want to know why, you only need to think back to Super Mario Run. Sure, it was free, but a lot of content was locked behind a paywall. And when it was released, it costs RM39.90 to unlock everything, which is a bit steep for a mobile game, to say the least. Let’s just hope Pokemon Unite doesn’t have those kinds of trappings. The game is being co-developed with Tencent’s Timi studio, so there’s bound to be other forms of monetisation.
