Announced yesterday via the PlayStation Asia site, it looks like you can make the change either via your PlayStation 4 (PS4) or from a web browser. Your first change is free, but any subsequent changes will cost RM40 each. If you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber, that fee is halved to RM20. When you do make an ID change, your old ID will still be displayed next to your new one for 30 days. This will only be visible to other players registered as your friends.
That said, not all games will be able to support this feature. Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore (SIES) says that games published after 1 April will be fine, as well as a number of other popular PS4 games. As for the incompatible games, you can revert back to any of your previous IDs for free to get around issues or errors that may arise. PS3 And PS Vita games are also incompatible with this feature. It’s great that players finally have the ability to change their online IDs, even if it’s not guaranteed to be a problem-free experience. The fee for each change beyond the first one does sound a little steep, but it makes sense as a deterrent; preventing trolls from disguising themselves at no cost. (Source: PlayStation Asia)
