The new quick charging technology will be first made available to Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 765 and 765G chipsets, although it should be noted that both chipsets support Quick Charge 3+ and Quick Charge 4+. Performance-wise, Quick Charge 3+ is able to go from 0% to 50% with just 15 minutes of charging, while also keeping a device 9°C cooler in the process.
Qualcomm says that Quick Charge 3+ is fully backwards compatible with currently existing accessories that device owners may have, and that it will also support the standard USB-A to USB-C cables, plus accessories that also support scalable voltage with 20mV steps.
At the time of writing, Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Youth Edition is said to be the first device to support this technology. Besides the Snapdragon 765 and 765G chipsets, Qualcomm says that it intends to make the technology available to other Snapdragon mobile platforms later this year. (Source: XDA, Android Authority)
