The leaked images were first posted by Russian tech site andro-news. At a glance, the images show a phone with an edge-to-edge display and design that looks very similar to Samsung’s own Galaxy S8 or S9 smartphones. One major and distinct difference in its design being the lone bezel at its top, and the absence of one at the bottom. It is speculated that the lack of a bottom bezel is to accommodate for what could possibly be an in-display fingerprint scanner. On a related note, it seems that the Xperia XZ4 is still bucking the trend of the notched display.

On that note, the Xperia XZ4’s display will supposedly be a 6.2-inch QHD+ OLED panel. Suggesting that it will continue using an aspect ratio greater than 18:9. In terms of hardware, the Xperia XZ4 is expected to house Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 8150 SoC, either 6GB or 8GB RAM, up to 256GB of expandable storage, a 4000mAh battery. All operating under the latest Android 9.0 Pie. It also looks like it will feature a dual main camera setup comprising a 24MP and 16MP sensor, while its front-facing camera will use a 24MP sensor. More importantly, there’s a possibility that the Xperia XZ4 will be Sony’s first smartphone to be 5G ready. Due to the Snapdragon X50 modem that is reportedly housed within the Snapdragon 8150 SoC. As it is with all leaks, we strongly advise that you take this bit of new with a healthy dose of skepticism, at least until Sony makes an official announcement about the device. That said, and given Sony’s timeline for releasing new phones, it’s very likely that we’ll see the Xperia XZ4 pop up next year during MWC 2019 or IFA 2019.
