According to The Korea Herald, the clamshell foldable phone will be priced at around KRW1 million (~RM3522). The report states that the price denotes a mass-market model, and part of the company’s strategy to ramp up sales. As for when Samsung intends to unveil the device, current plans peg it to be revealed  alongside the Galaxy S11 line, which is around February. The pricing of the Samsung clamshell phone is very interesting indeed. As it is, it’s set to be less than half the price of the Galaxy Fold. Maybe more importantly, this also puts it at a much lower price point than the Motorola Razr, its direct competitor in terms of form factor.

That said, whether this is actually a good thing will depend on what the device packs on the inside. For being around 25% cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy Fold, the Razr does pack internals that are a lot more modest in comparison. Especially jarring is the latter’s Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset, against the former’s Snapdragon 855. The Korea Herald goes on to say that Samsung intends to unveil the second generation Galaxy Fold in August. This means that it will likely appear alongside the Galaxy Note 11. It also sounds like the clamshell foldable phone will be the start of a new series. (Source: The Korea Herald)
