It is called smart #1 and yes, the hashtag is part of the official name. Alongside the name, the brand has also provided the first look at the brand-new car which is designed by Mercedes-Benz while the engineering is handled by Geely although still in heavily-camouflaged form. [Image: smart.] While smart did not specifically point it out, the name seemed to be carried over from the smart Concept #1 that the brand has introduced in Munch last year. Not only that, the exterior design and outline of the car are also almost similar to the concept car: The brand also took the opportunity to tease some of the features that the smart #1 has including a drag coefficient of 0.29 alongside concealed door handles and Active Grille Shutter. smart also noted that the car is able to withstand extreme cold as it can automatically pre-heat the battery according to the driving schedule that customers have set through smart #1’s control panel or mobile app. Additionally, smart #1 has also been equipped with an electronic stability program (ESP) from Bosch. While we don’t want to get too ahead of ourselves, we do wonder whether this will be the first EV that Proton is going to bring into Malaysia as part of its deal with smart. (Source: smart.)
