During the Nintendo Direct stream, Shigeru Miyamoto announced the cast of the animated film, which is packed to the brim with big-name Hollywood stars. To start, there’s Chris Pratt who will be playing Mario, Jack Black as Bowser, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, and even Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.

That’s not to mention the odd casting choice, which will probably remind you of the Borderlands movie casting. But as mentioned, it will be an animated film by Illumination so while it won’t necessarily be on the level of the 1993 film, there will likely be some getting used to the mismatch between the characters’ video game and movie voices. All that said, it will be awhile before we get to see the Super Mario Bros Animated Film.
