Unlike the Predator Triton 500 SE that offers a clean design that is meant for professional settings, the Helios 500 exterior design continues to be aggressive which is a trait that Acer has maintained for the laptop since the original Helios 500 that was first revealed to the world in 2018. If you love customizable RGB lights, there are plenty of them on this gaming laptop including on the top area of its rear thermal exhaust area. Dubbed as a “mobile desktop” by Acer, the Helios 500 can be obtained either by Intel Core i7-11800H or Core i9-980HK CPU. Graphics-wise, the Malaysian variants come standard with NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics. Customers’ CPU choice also determines the type of display panel that they would receive on the laptop’s 17.3-inch screen. The Core i7 unit is equipped with a Full HD IPS panel that also has a refresh rate of 360Hz while the Core i9 model features a 4K 120Hz Mini LED panel instead. Similarly, the Core i7 variant also has 32GB of RAM and two 512GB solid state drives as opposed to the Core i9 version that comes with 64GB RAM and two 1TB SSDs. Meanwhile, the Vortex Flow thermal cooling system, which features three 5th Gen AeroBlade 3D fans and PowerGem thermal pads, helps cool down the gaming laptop. Acer has also equipped the Helios 500 with pressure-sensitive MagTek keyswitches for its WASD keys. Owners can select their preferred response level and travel distance of the WASD keys through two different keycap sets called MagForce and Racing that accompanied the Helios 500. The 2021 Predator Helios 500 will be available for pre-order at Acer Malaysia e-store and Shopee’s flagship store as well as Authorized Predator Partners all over the country from 30 October to 6 November. Just like the Triton 500 SE, pre-order customers will receive a Predator Gaming Chair, Utility Backpack, Galea 350 headset, and limited-edition merchandise. Price-wise, the 2021 Predator Helios 500 with Core i7 goes for RM13,999 while its Core i9 counterpart can be obtained for RM19,999. With great firepower, comes a hefty price tag and clearly, things are no different for this new beastly gaming laptop.
