Third party sellers who did have stock, were selling it for a premium, while some unscrupulous sellers were just waiting on the sideline to scam those who were desperate – so it came as a blessing when Sony announced the Days of Play sale which promised massive discount and offers on the console, games as well as a discount on Playstation Plus memberships.
The highlight of the sale was two Playstation 4 bundles, the first being a Playstation 4 Pro with two DualShock controllers, as well two hit games, God of War and The Last of Us Remastered for RM1,399 (RM400 off its retail price). The second bundle was a 1TB Playstation 4 (non pro) Mega Pack that was being sold for RM1,099 (RM 250 off its retail price). However, much to everyone’s dismay, these bundles were not available at any of the retail locations listed even from the first day of sale, June 3rd 2020. While there is a ‘while supplies last’ clause on the offers, its quite strange to see all units for what was to be a 2 week long sale disappear so fast. Lets also throw in the consideration that this was still during the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) period, and customers would still need to line up and get their temperature and details recorded before being allowed into the outlet to make their purchases.
Strangely enough, as of today, the Days of Play promo page at Playstation.com/en-my [google cache] has been removed, 6 days before the promo’s expiry. We’ve reached out to Sony Malaysia to see if they are able to provide us with an explanation as to the stock shortage, and whether they will be extending this offer when they are able to procure additional stocks of the console.
