Prominent serial leakers, Jon Prosser and Max Weinbach have separately pointed out that there will be no new hardware present at WWDC 2020’s keynote. Given the fact that WWDC is a developer-oriented event and focused heavily on software, this decision is not exactly out of place and has happened plenty of times in previous editions.

In 2017, there were also the refreshed variant for iMac, MacBook, and MacBook as well as iMac Pro, 10.5-inch iPad Pro, and HomePod. Even though there might not be new hardware, many will be observing WWDC 2020 closely due to persistent rumours that suggests Apple will be announcing its plan to switch from Intel to its own ARM-based processor for Mac at the event.
